The West Michigan Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association is teaming up with Western Michigan University’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability to provide a panel of professionals representing the various facets of the environmental industry to share insights with WMU students aspiring to enter the environmental field.
This free luncheon event, open to all WMU students interested in the environmental field as well as WM-A&WMA members and guests, will feature panel members representing:
• Government: Chris Christensen, MDEQ-RRD
• Environmental Consulting: David Stegink, Envirologic Technologies, Inc.
• Environmental Contracting: David Balogh, Taplin Group
• Environmental Law: Tammy Helminski, Barnes & Thornburg LLP
• Laboratory Services: Duane Hattem, ESC Lab Sciences
• Manufacturing (Environmental Health & Safety for Industry): Mark Weiss, WMU
Panelists will open up about coursework and experiences that best prepare students for work in the environmental industry, the job market and range of opportunities in their line of work, and candid advice to those looking to pursue work in their field. Students interested can stick around after the lunch and panel for the optional “Mentor Matchmaking”.
